ドラクエのザオラルは成功率50％ではなく、平均すると成功率50％です。
内訳はおおよそこんな感じです。

フィールドマップで使用：成功率60％
街の中で使用：成功率70％
ダンジョンの中で使用：成功率40％
戦闘中に使用：成功率30％

さらに確立を変動させる因子があり、
MPの残りが少ない時
ボスと闘っている時
などに成功率が下がります。
久々に使うと成功率は高かったりします。
